Impact of CAEL Credit Mobility Working Group Featured in Joint Article

In a recent article published in The EvoLLLution, Carolyn Swabek, director of community engagement at CAEL, and Allegra Fowler, executive director of the Center for Prior Learning Recognition at Purdue University Global, discussed their collaboration around credit for prior learning (CPL) mobility.

In the article, they note that the issue of CPL credit mobility is growing in importance as transfer enrollment increases. The issue becomes even more important as the CAEL community continues to advocate for the greater use of CPL throughout the education-employment ecosystem.

The authors summarize some of the solutions CAEL’s Credit Mobility Working Group has been exploring since it was formed in 2023 under the principle that CPL from one institution should be recognized upon transfer. They include several examples of the working group’s emphasis on enhanced data standards. They also announced that a white paper is planned to share the working group’s recommendations in greater detail.

The article, which appeared Jan. 23, is available at evolllution.com
