Today, postsecondary institutions are investing in ways to support the growing number of returning adult learners. One important approach is to offer credit for prior learning (CPL), which recognizes and awards college credit for learning acquired outside formal education through military service, work experience, informal learning, volunteer activities, or other life experiences.
