The National Landscape of Credit for Prior Learning: Effective State and System Policies for Success and Equity, published by CAEL and the American Council on Education (ACE), offers an analysis of more than 360 state and system policies enacted to support credit for prior learning (CPL) opportunities. CAEL and ACE examined the CPL policy landscape in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. The report includes analysis of policy trends, and it provides examples of 11 distinct policy themes. These insights can help policymakers, institutional leaders, accrediting bodies, and industry, military, and veterans' affairs offices better track trends that can help inform their own CPL approaches.
